A new world, neither of yesterday nor for the future. Only today it radiates upon me, tirelessly. Today is forever, nothing will ever separate me again, and nothing will ever be mine again. What at first seemed everlasting crumbled today at a stroke. Nothing can hold it, grasp it, understand it anymore. Hindsight blurs, the view forward gets lost. In the near, everything becomes very vast, expanse so close. The horizon dissolves, gravity subsides.
The path is abandoned, no trace is ever left in it again – all steps are counted. Further out, other tracks continue, eons-long deep tracks. The attempt to take something of what never was, with us, is futile. Saying goodbye was suddenly easy, the once closed door so inviting to leave.
Without another glance back, everything is moving towards me, even more inviting.
