Dark Nights of the Soul

This realm of numbness,
your daily life,
a vision of reality seen through veiled eyes.
Dazzling colors of grey,
faking a truth of joy and pleasure and happiness
and purpose –
while the dark nights are full of loneliness and desperation.
You cry your blurred eyes out,
tears of hope, wishful thinking, desire, dreams.
Unseen, unknown, unshared.
As dark as the night, as unseen and unknown are you.
You kept your secrets concealed
from being alive.

Behind your mainstreamed individualism
is hiding a deep craving for uniqueness,
and union,
connection and truth
and vibrancy.
But your uniqueness was sold for lies,
to become an individual in a communion of false promises.

Your false identity, suitable to conform, became your home,
your comforting zone,
and your prison.
Not that you have had any choice.

The secret of your true nature is profoundly hidden,
even you have lost connection to that depth.

However, there appears some melody,
almost not audible
in the dark nights
when your loneliness
becomes almost unbearable.

When it’s so dark
that the dazzling grey
and its numbing noise
cannot reach you anymore.
That moment
when your eyes fail to see,
and the melody of silence
reaches your senses.
In its silence
so loud,
so overwhelming.
Swallowing all those false hopes,
false beliefs,
false desires,
false ideas
of love
and life.

Silence
becoming alluring,
mesmerizing.
Reason transcends,
reason
to remain a false individual,
separated
from your uniqueness,
from union,
in a false world,
that continues its feeding
of false promises and beliefs.

As you finally stand nowhere
and the only question that remains is:
dare you to surrender to die into freedom?
